Questions, before we begin
A little clarity can make the first step feel easier. Here you’ll find answers to some of the practical questions about Psychotherapy, Coaching, The Widow Season, & Home Therapy.
-
My office is located in Lawrence, Kansas. In-person psychotherapy sessions are available at my Lawrence office, and telehealth sessions are available to clients located anywhere within Kansas at the time of their appointment.
-
Yes. Psychotherapy is available virtually to Kansas residents.
Coaching is also available virtually and may be offered to people living outside Kansas. Because coaching is distinct from psychotherapy, we’ll talk together about which kind of support is appropriate for you before beginning.
-
Psychotherapy is clinical mental health care and may include the assessment and treatment of emotional, psychological, or relational concerns.
Coaching is not psychotherapy or mental health treatment. It is a more focused, forward-looking process intended to support reflection, clarity, and meaningful movement through a particular season of life.
If you aren’t sure which fits what you’re looking for, you don’t need to determine that on your own. We can begin with a conversation.
-
I am no longer contracted with insurance companies. All services are private pay, which allows our work to be shaped by your needs rather than by the requirements of an insurance plan.
Payment and fee information will be discussed clearly before we begin so you can make an informed decision about moving forward.
-
Psychotherapy is confidential and is provided in accordance with professional ethics. There are safety-related exceptions to confidentiality, which will be explained before treatment begins.
The privacy, expectations, and boundaries associated with coaching or consultation will also be reviewed clearly before we begin.
-
The Widow Season is a 12-week, clinician-led coaching experience for widowed women who are no longer in the earliest days of grief but are beginning to ask what comes next.
It brings together a small circle of women, individual support, and a thoughtfully guided process of reconnecting with identity, belonging, agency, and the life that is still unfolding.
-
The Widow Season is a coaching experience rather than group psychotherapy. It is not intended to replace individual mental health treatment or provide crisis support.
Your Front Porch conversation gives us space to consider whether the experience is appropriate for where you are and what you need right now.
-
A Front Porch conversation is a private, 30-minute conversation before The Widow Season begins. It gives us an opportunity to meet, talk about where you are, answer your questions, and listen together for whether this is the place for you right now.
-
Home Therapy is a personalized process for thoughtfully shaping your surroundings during a season of transition, grief, growth, or reinvention.
Think of it like therapy for your home: we consider what your space is holding, what is no longer serving you, and what may help your home feel more grounding, supportive, and reflective of the life you are living now.
Although this work is informed by my experience as a psychotherapist, Home Therapy is not psychotherapy or mental health treatment.
-
I do not provide emergency or immediate crisis services. If you, or someone you care about, are experiencing an urgent mental health crisis or are concerned about your immediate safety, call or text 988, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
-
You don’t have to arrive knowing exactly what kind of support you need. Begin by sharing a few simple details through the Start a Conversation page. From there, we can consider what brings you here and which offering—if any—feels like the right place to begin.
-
Once you submit the inquiry form, I’ll be in touch personally. We’ll begin with a brief conversation about what you’re seeking, answer any initial questions, and consider whether working together feels like a good fit.
Reaching out is an invitation to begin a conversation, not a commitment to continue.
